Chen Sun

Chen is a design researcher with a background in Cultural Anthropology from Oxford University. She is from China and her curiosity and interests in culture and people have led her to explore across the world. Her researches range from ethnic groups in southwestern China, visitors at British museums, to minimalists in Singapore and scientific practices at labs. With a passion for storytelling, she uses different forms to invite audiences to experience wonders and the diversity of different cultures as a storyteller at Ashmolean Musem and a curator at the Pitt Rivers Musem in Oxford.

She believes anthropology will contribute to a better world by providing ethnographic insights and alternative angles, which drives her to apply her skills from fieldwork and anthropology to design research. By combining design thinking and participant observation, Chen hopes that people would increase the understandings of Otherness through her research and storytelling.
